Book Design

Design, Creative Writing, and Illustration

A collection of three original books exploring the intersection of design, creative writing, and editorial craft. Beyond layout and tactile binding, each volume features original writing, editing, and illustration—blending literary voice, hand-crafted artwork, and visual storytelling across custom-designed physical artifacts.

Between the Clouds

Between the Clouds is a collected anthology of my creative writing, developed over the course of a semester and translated into a tactile, sculptural book form. Rather than presenting the work as a traditional manuscript, I designed the cover as a window — a die-cut opening that allows the viewer to see into the book before turning a page.

Behind this window sits the first page: a hand-painted sky composed of layered, shifting tones. The sky acts as both threshold and metaphor, reflecting the introspective and emotional landscapes explored throughout the collection. The book’s structure encourages the reader to look through before looking into, reinforcing recurring themes of memory, transformation, and identity. Each story is accompanied by original illustrations that interpret the writing visually, translating internal states into atmospheric imagery rather than literal scenes. The project explores how narrative can exist as an object, how structure, material, and visual language can reinforce the story.

Between the Clouds represents the intersection of my literary voice and my design practice, transforming a semester’s worth of writing into a dimensional artifact that invites readers to move through sky, memory, and metaphor in both physical and emotional space.

My Writing

What Fresh Hell Is This?

A poem book about a legendary literary icon, Dorothy Parker. The project was to feature her work along with emulations and poems of my own. I threaded all the writing into a book and designed it to fit the art period of her fame, elaborately using a mix of Art Deco and Art Nouveau motif.

My Writing

A Trip To The Met

An interactive pop-up book documenting a visual study of Rembrandt and Degas at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The design blends original reflections and illustration with paper engineering to bring classical masterworks into physical space.
